Job Description
We are seeking a Business / Data Analyst with Data Engineering expertise to support the design and development of banking data marts for regulatory reporting, analytics, and downstream consumption. The role will focus on translating business requirements into scalable data models, ensuring data quality, reconciliation, and traceability across enterprise data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Data Analysis
- Engage with business stakeholders (Finance, Risk, Regulatory teams) to gather and document data mart requirements
- Translate requirements into data mappings, transformation logic, and business rules
- Define KPIs, metrics, and regulatory data elements (e.g., capital, liquidity, exposure)
- Perform data profiling and analysis to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and anomalies
- Design and develop subject-oriented data marts (Finance, Risk, Regulatory Reporting)
- Build dimensional data models (fact/dimension tables) optimized for analytics and reporting and create ER Diagram
- Work with enterprise platforms such as Oracle, Netezza, or cloud data warehouses
- Optimize queries and data structures for performance and scalability
- Define control totals, data validation rules, and exception handling mechanisms
- Document and maintain data lineage (source to report) at table and column level
- Support integration with lineage/governance tools (e.g., MANTA, Collibra)
- Ensure adherence to data governance policies and regulatory standards (BCBS 239, SOX, etc.)
- Maintain metadata, data dictionaries, and transformation documentation
- Work closely with data engineers, architects and business users
- Participate in Agile delivery cycles (sprint planning, UAT, defect management)
- Ensure proper testing, validation, and sign-off for data mart releases
- Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of banking data domains (Finance, Risk, Regulatory Reporting)
- Expertise in data warehousing and data mart design (star/snowflake schema)
- Advanced SQL skills (query optimization, performance tuning) in TOAD, etc
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, etc)
- Experience working with databases such as Oracle, Netezza, or similar platforms
- Strong knowledge of data reconciliation, controls, and validation frameworks
- Familiarity with data lineage and governance practices
- Understanding of file-based and API-based data integration
Preferred Skills (Good to Have)
- Exposure to BCBS 239, CCAR, Basel, or other regulatory frameworks
- Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Familiarity with BI/reporting tools (Tableau, Power BI)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or related field
- 5–8 years of experience in banking data, data warehousing, or data engineering roles
