About the Role
BMW TechWorks India is looking for an experienced BSP Video Driver Developer to join our automotive software engineering team. The role involves designing, developing, and integrating Video/Camera device drivers within the Linux Board Support Package (BSP) for next-generation automotive platforms. The candidate will work closely with hardware, middleware, and application teams to enable high-performance video and camera functionalities aligned with Automotive Software Architecture (ASA) standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Video/Camera device drivers for automotive ECUs and embedded platforms.
- Integrate video drivers with ASA-compliant software architecture, middleware, and system components.
- Optimize video pipelines to achieve low latency, high throughput, and real-time performance.
- Collaborate with hardware teams for seamless integration of SoCs, sensors, displays, and peripherals.
- Perform debugging, root cause analysis, profiling, and performance tuning of video subsystems.
- Work with multimedia frameworks to enable camera, display, and video processing features.
- Ensure compliance with Functional Safety (ISO 26262), ASPICE, and automotive quality standards.
- Support unit testing, integration testing, system validation, and production issue resolution.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and process artifacts.
Required Skills
- Strong programming expertise in Embedded C/C++.
- Hands-on experience in Linux BSP development and Linux device driver development.
- Good understanding of video and camera subsystems in embedded platforms.
- Experience with video interfaces such as:
- MIPI CSI/DSI
- HDMI
- LVDS
- Familiarity with Automotive Software Architecture (ASA) and AUTOSAR concepts.
- Experience with multimedia frameworks such as GStreamer, V4L2, or similar technologies.
- Knowledge of Yocto build systems and embedded Linux environments.
- Understanding of:
- Memory management
- DMA
- Hardware accelerators
- Real-time system performance optimization
- Experience using debugging tools such as JTAG, Lauterbach, oscilloscopes, and tracing tools.
- Knowledge of ASPICE development processes and Functional Safety concepts.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with automotive SoCs from NXP, Renesas, TI, Qualcomm, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of image processing pipelines and video encoding/decoding technologies.
- Exposure to automotive communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet AVB, and Diagnostics (UDS).
- Experience working in Agile/SAFe development environments.
