Key Responsibilities

• Own and maintain Openproject backend integrations and APIs
• Support Bill application backend as backup engineer
• Provide Compliance application backend support
• Develop and maintain Java Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs
• Design and optimise PostgreSQL database schemas, queries and stored procedures
• Configure and maintain Nginx web server for application deployments
• Participate in code reviews and enforce engineering standards
• Document technical designs, APIs and runbooks
• Coordinate with frontend engineers for API contracts and integration
• Participate in knowledge transfer from exiting Openproject engineers before their last day

Technical Skills Required

• Java Spring Boot (mandatory) 4+ years
• PostgreSQL (mandatory) — database design, query optimisation, migrations
• Nginx — web server configuration and deployment
• REST API design and development
• Git — branching strategies, code review process
• Docker / containerisation (preferred)
• Unit and integration testing (JUnit, Mockito)
• Linux / bash scripting
• Agile / Scrum methodology

Soft Skills & Competencies

• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Ability to independently own applications with minimal supervision
• Good communication for cross-functional collaboration
• Willingness to absorb knowledge quickly from exiting staff
