We are looking for a Backend Developer to join our team.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and test backend services using Python and Django
Write clean, reusable, well-tested, and maintainable code
Integrate third-party services and APIs with our backend business logic
Implement security, data protection, and data storage best practices
Track down performance bottlenecks and push for continuous improvement
Document code and technical decisions clearly so the team can follow your thinking
Own features end-to-end, from design through delivery
Keep up with the tools, frameworks, and practices relevant to the role

Experience Technical Skills

1+ years of backend development experience with Python and Django
Strong proficiency in Python, Django, Django REST Framework, and Docker
Solid grasp of object-oriented programming principles
Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL); exposure to NoSQL databases like MongoDB is a plus
Familiarity with ORM concepts (Django ORM or similar)
Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
Working knowledge of automated testing (unit/integration tests, e.g. pytest)
Experience with Celery or similar task queues for handling asynchronous work

Ways of Working

Comfortable working with AI-assisted / agentic development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, or similar), with a solid grasp of prompting fundamentals
Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile/iterative development practices
Strong analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have

Experience with query optimisation and performance tuning
Familiarity with microservices architecture
Experience deploying and hosting applications in cloud environments (e.g., AWS or equivalent)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerised deployments
