Key Responsibilities


  • 4+ years of backend engineering experience; Python strongly preferred, with FastAPI or an equivalent async framework.
  • Hands-on experience building with LLMs agent design, prompt engineering, structured output, and tool / function calling — including RAG / knowledge-base grounding, guardrails, and graceful fallback handling when model confidence is low.
  • AWS proficiency: EventBridge, ECS Fargate, Lambda, RDS PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB.
  • Event-driven architecture fundamentals: at-least-once delivery, idempotency, dead-letter handling, and saga patterns.
  • PostgreSQL depth: schema design, constraint authoring, and index strategy.
  • Solid grasp of REST API design, asynchronous programming, and automated testing.
  • Ability to own a service end-to-end in a fast-moving, milestone-gated sprint without hand-holding.
  • Hands-on experience using an agentic AI platform (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot Agents, Windsurf) across the software development lifecycle — from coding and testing to debugging and code review.

AI-assisted engineering is core to how we build at Simplify Alpha. Hands-on fluency with agentic AI platforms across the software development lifecycle is essential for this role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare domain: EDI 270/271 / 837/835 transactions, Medicaid eligibility, or claims workflows.
  • Prompt evaluation frameworks: LangSmith, PromptFlow, or custom evaluation harness experience.
  • Kinesis Data Streams consumer implementation and real-time telemetry ingestion patterns.
  • React 18 / TypeScript / Tailwind CSS; ESRI or Google APIs for real-time map UIs.
  • Pulumi Infrastructure-as-Code, AWS multi-AZ deployment patterns, and Redshift Serverless materialized view design.
