Senior Software Engineer Backend Platform (Ruby/Rails)

We are looking for a strong backend engineer to build and scale platform services powering search, reporting, integrations, AI workflows, and operational systems. You will work on distributed backend systems involving APIs, asynchronous processing, search infrastructure, workflow orchestration, and production-scale platform engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services using Ruby/Rails

• Develop APIs, async workflows, and platform capabilities

• Work on search, reporting, integrations, and AI-driven workflows

• Improve system reliability, observability, and performance

• Debug and resolve production issues across services and infrastructure

• Collaborate on architecture, system design, and technical decisions

• Contribute to platform and engineering best practices.

Required Skills

• Strong proficiency in Ruby and Ruby on Rails

• Strong backend engineering and system design fundamentals

• Experience building scalable APIs and distributed systems

• Good understanding of databases, caching, and async processing

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and production infrastructure

• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

• Ownership mindset and ability to work independently.

Good to Have

• Experience with Python and AI/agent-based workflows

• Exposure to LLMs, AI agents, or workflow automation systems

• Experience with Argo Workflows

• Experience with Rails upgrades and large-scale migrations

• Experience with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch and MongoDB

• Experience with Kafka, NATS, RabbitMQ, or similar systems & Experience with observability and monitoring tools

Experience

• 4-8 years of backend engineering experience

• Experience working on scalable production systems
