Senior Azure DevOps Engineer
About the Role
Hurix Digital is seeking a skilled and proactive Senior Azure DevOps Engineer to join our high-performing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure on Microsoft Azure. You will drive deployment automation, ensure infrastructure consistency through Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and enable seamless CI/CD workflows across development teams.
This is a hands-on engineering role best suited for professionals with a strong foundation in Azure cloud services, Azure DevOps, Kubernetes, Infrastructure-as-Code, automation, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
Key Responsibilities
Azure Cloud Infrastructure Management
- Design, deploy, and maintain highly available, fault-tolerant infrastructure on Microsoft Azure.
- Manage Azure services including:
- Azure Virtual Machines (VMs)
- Azure Virtual Networks (VNet)
- Azure Load Balancer
- Azure Application Gateway
- Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Azure Virtual Machine Scale Sets (VMSS)
- Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Azure DNS
- Azure Storage Accounts
- Azure SQL Database
- Implement cloud networking, RBAC, security groups (NSGs), identity management, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Manage Azure-native services such as Azure Container Registry (ACR), Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Azure Backup, and Azure Site Recovery.
Automation & CI/CD Enablement
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and application deployments using Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.
- Implement deployment strategies such as Blue-Green, Canary, and Rolling Deployments.
- Drive DevOps best practices across development and operations teams.
Containerization & Kubernetes
- Design, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Docker.
- Deploy, manage, and optimize workloads on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Configure Kubernetes networking, ingress controllers, autoscaling, secrets management, Helm charts, and service meshes where applicable.
- Improve container security, scalability, and operational efficiency.
Infrastructure as Code & Configuration Management
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, Azure Bicep, or ARM Templates.
- Manage configuration using Ansible, PowerShell DSC, or similar automation tools.
- Maintain reusable infrastructure modules and version-controlled deployments.
- Ensure infrastructure compliance, governance, and security through code.
Monitoring, Reliability & Cloud Operations
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using:
- Azure Monitor
- Log Analytics
- Application Insights
- Prometheus
- Grafana
- Datadog
- Support databases such as Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis Cache, and MongoDB.
- Perform production support, incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), disaster recovery planning, and performance tuning.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, backup, and resilience across cloud environments.
Security & DevSecOps
- Integrate security into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as:
- Microsoft Defender for Cloud
- Microsoft Sentinel
- SonarQube
- Trivy
- Snyk
- Checkmarx
- Implement secrets management using Azure Key Vault.
- Enforce RBAC, least privilege access, identity governance, and cloud security best practices.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security and governance standards.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with engineering, architecture, QA, and release teams to deliver scalable cloud solutions.
- Participate in cloud architecture reviews and Azure governance initiatives.
- Mentor junior DevOps engineers and promote DevOps best practices across teams.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5-8 years of experience in Azure DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services and cloud architecture.
- Expertise in Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD automation.
- Strong experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Docker.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, Azure Bicep, or ARM Templates.
- Strong Linux administration skills and proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripting.
- Experience with Azure networking, security, identity management, and cloud governance.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
- Experience with production support, incident management, and high-availability architectures.
- Exposure to configuration management tools such as Ansible is preferred.

- Microsoft Azure certifications such as:
- AZ-104: Azure Administrator Associate
- AZ-305: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- AZ-400: Designing and Implementing Microsoft DevOps Solutions
- Experience with Azure Landing Zones and enterprise cloud migrations.
- Exposure to multi-cloud environments (AWS/GCP) is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, and SRE practices.
- Experience in cloud cost optimization (FinOps), governance, and compliance.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale production environments and driving automation initiatives.
