Asst. / Dy. Manager - Purchase (Fabrication Industry)

Role & responsibilities :

• Managing procurement activities to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, primarily steel and other components required for fabrication processes.
• Prepare procurement plans in coordination with the production and project teams.
• Source materials including steel plates, angles, consumables, Paints, Gas, Welding Rods, Machines and other related items.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost efficiency.
• Identify and evaluate reliable suppliers for steel and fabrication-related materials.
• Raise purchase orders and ensure timely approval and issuance.
• Track and ensure timely delivery of materials as per agreed schedules.
• Work closely with the stores team to monitor stock levels and prevent overstocking or shortages.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier agreements.
• Generate procurement reports, including cost analysis and vendor performance.
• Co-ordinate with Staff & Finance Team for timely releasing of payment to the vendors.
• Proficiency in procurement software like ERP, SAP.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/ Civil and Any post graduate degree in Material Management supply chain management, business administration, or a related field
• 5-10 years of experience in procurement, preferably in the steel fabrication or manufacturing industry.
• Familiarity with different grades of steel, fabrication processes, and related materials.
• Understanding of market trends in steel pricing and availability.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
