Job Description

 The core responsibility of this position is to oversee the Regulatory Affairs and related Compliance of FSSAI, EXIM documentation, Labeling, Legal Metrology, Nutritional Labeling aspects related to the existing and new products under the Research & Development function. The position will oversee regulatory compliance for beverage products, ensuring adherence to both local and global regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include managing, preparing, submitting and tracking regulatory submissions, maintaining and improving quality systems, and providing strategic guidance to ensure regulatory alignment across operations. The Assistant Manager will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development and compliance efforts.
Key Responsibilities:

1. Legal/Regulatory/Labeling:

Compliance on formulation as per FSSAI / Export/ International Regulations
Labelling in accordance with FSSAI regulations /Export/ International Regulations for products.
Scrutinize and approve all labels/Artwork for conformance with all the Indian food regulations/ Export / International regulations
Establish Ingredient List and other compulsory declaration for each and every new and revised recipe in accordance with the Indian regulations and international regulations where required.
Mandatory approval on Labels for products.

Product Classification as per formulation.
Work in the areas of food regulations.
Verify recipes together with national/ global regulations and acceptance.
To attend the Regulatory workshops, seminars and initiate capacity building and Advocacy Good comprehension of Food laws applicable in India including FSSAI, Legal Metrology.
Liaise with Product Development, QA, Legal and Marketing Department so as to set up correct labelling requirements and provide clear, regulatory comprehension of the regulatory demands.

2. Concentrates/Product RM/Nutrition:

Expertise in Regulatory Affairs (Beverages, Water) and Labeling.
Designing of Concentrates and Flavour Units required for execution of NPD
Coordination with Internal and external teams for designing and manufacture of Concentrates/ shelf life evaluation/extension etc.
Working closely with the QA-Concentrate team for smooth execution to commercial production.
Designing of Mixing Instructions for commercial production in NPD.
Designing of Nutrition Fact Table (NFT)
Carry out specifications formation/ sensory evaluation of Raw Materials.
Conduct sensory studies and shelf life studies for Product RM.

Interpret, communicate, and leverage experimental data to support the development and implementation of formulations.
Qualification of raw materials, designing and executing stability tests, formulation development and technology evaluation.
Coordinate with different vendors for raw materials for products.
Co-ordinate with NABL accredited laboratories for analysis of new & existing products.
Participate with the audit team in vendor audits Assisting in preparation of Manuals for Products, Concentrates/ Flavour Units etc.

Knowledge & Skill Set Required:

1. Product development skills and understanding of Nutrition
2. Knowledge of principles and practices of the regulatory field assigned.
3. Knowledge of the Food Safety Standards Act(s), Rules and Regulations.
4. Knowledge of legislative processes defined in FSS Act 2006.
5. Knowledge of International regulations such as CODEX and its own work practices and /or different countries regulations for product categories.
6. Ability to evaluate, interpret and/or apply laws, rules, and regulations, to the required functional aspects.
7. Capability to comment on the draft legislation and CODEX Documentation with appropriate scientific justification and facts.
8. Ability to keep records and prepare correspondence and reports related to the regulatory work/label/artwork.
Educational Qualifications:
Graduate in Food Science or Technology
10-12 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs and Compliances for Food & Beverages products.
