Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced AS400 Developer to design, develop, maintain, and support business-critical applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in RPG programming, CL, DB2/400 databases, and IBM i system architecture. The role involves working closely with business users, analysts, and technical teams to deliver high-quality solutions that support enterprise operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform.
• Develop and enhance programs using RPG III, RPG IV, RPGLE, Free-Format RPG, and CL.
• Create and maintain database files, logical files, and queries using DB2/400.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop and support batch jobs, stored procedures, and interfaces with external systems.
• Perform code reviews, debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Create technical documentation, program specifications, and support manuals.
• Support production environments and resolve application issues within defined SLAs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams during system upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
• Follow established software development lifecycle (SDLC) and change management processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in AS400/IBM i application development.
• Strong experience in:
• RPG III
• RPG IV / RPGLE
• Free-Format RPG
• CL Programming
• Experience with DB2/400 database design and development.
• Knowledge of SQL, Embedded SQL, and Query/400.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with source control and change management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ILE concepts and service programs.
• Knowledge of IBM i system administration fundamentals.
• Experience integrating AS400 applications with web services or APIs.
• Familiarity with modern IBM i development tools such as:
• Rational Developer for i (RDi)
• IBM ACS (Access Client Solutions)
• Experience in Manufacturing, Banking, Insurance, Retail, or Supply Chain domains.
• Exposure to modernization projects involving IBM i systems.
