Api Automation Tester

• Minimum 7+ years of QA experience in enterprise-level environments
• Strong expertise in test planning, execution, and defect management.*
• Proficiency in functional, integration, and regression testing.*
• Automation-first mindset ability to identify repeatable patterns and proactively implement automation solutions.
• Strong analytical skills with a questioning attitude – must challenge assumptions and raise flags when outcomes deviate from expectations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Preferred Skill sets.

• Design, develop, and execute test cases for REST/SOAP APIs.
• Hands-on experience with API testing tools like:
• Postman, SOAP UI, Swagger, REST Assured, Karate, JMeter (for API performance)
• Validate REST/SOAP API responses using Assertions for payloads, status codes, headers, and schema structures.
• Build and manage Postman/API collections to support automated and manual test workflows.
• Good knowledge of JSON, XML, XPath, XSD, and schemas.
• Performfunctional, integration, regression, and performance testingof APIs.
• Knowledge of SQL and ability to validate backend data.
• Create and maintain API automation scriptsusing industrystandard tools.
• Work closely with developers, BAs, and DevOps teams to understand requirements and ensure quality delivery.
• Analyze Splunk logs, troubleshoot issues, and participate in defect triage discussions.
• Validate API-level security, authentication, and authorization (OAuth, JWT, etc.).
• Ensure data consistency across databases, microservices, and backend layers.
• Contribute to CI/CD integration of API automation suites.
• Prepare test reports, metrics, and documentation.
• Familiarity with API automation frameworks (TestNG, JUnit, Maven/Gradle).
• Experience working withCI/CD pipelines(Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
