Job Description

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced AEM Developer with strong expertise in AEM Backend development and Adaptive Forms Core Components. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining AEM-based applications, including form-driven solutions with dynamic data prefill and validation, custom components, and backend integrations, in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

Adaptive Forms Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain Adaptive Forms using AEM Forms Core Components, including form fragments, panels, and custom form components.
  • Configure and manage Form Data Models (FDM) and form submission actions (email, custom REST endpoints, DB).
  • Implement rule editor logic for conditional visibility, mandatory fields, and business logic within forms.
  • Work with AEM Forms Designer (XFA/legacy forms) and migrate to Core Components-based Adaptive Forms where required.

Dynamic Data Prefill

  • Implement prefill services to auto-populate Adaptive Forms with data from external sources (databases, REST APIs, CRM systems, or Form Data Models).
  • Configure FDM connections (REST/OData/Database) to fetch and bind data dynamically at form load.
  • Use prefill/predication rules in the Rule Editor to conditionally populate fields based on user context, query parameters, or prior responses.
  • Handle dynamic panel repetition with prefilled data sets (e.g., multiple dependents, addresses, line items).
  • Build custom prefill Java classes/OSGi services when out-of-the-box FDM prefill isnt sufficient.

Data Validation

  • Implement client-side validation using the Rule Editor (mandatory fields, format checks, pattern/regex validation, min-max ranges, date validations).
  • Configure built-in validation types (email, phone, numeric, currency) and custom validation expressions.
  • Build cross-field validation logic (e.g., end date > start date, conditional mandatory fields).
  • Implement server-side validation via custom submit actions/backend services before persisting or forwarding data.
  • Display custom error messages and manage validation UX (inline errors, panel-level summaries).
  • Ensure validation aligns with accessibility standards (WCAG).

Backend Development

  • Build and customize AEM backend functionality - OSGi services, Sling servlets, Sling models, JCR data models, and workflows.
  • Develop and maintain custom AEM components and templates using HTL (Sightly) and Java.
  • Integrate AEM with external systems/APIs (REST/SOAP) for form data submission and processing.
  • Manage content repository, digital assets (DAM), and templates.
  • Ensure performance, security, and scalability of AEM applications and forms.

General

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (UX, QA, business analysts) to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and CI/CD deployment processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to AEM Forms and backend services.

Required Skills

  • AEM Backend: OSGi, Sling Servlets, Sling Models, JCR, Apache Sling, Java, HTL/Sightly
  • AEM Forms - Adaptive Forms Core Components: Form fragments, submit actions, rule editor, form data models, themes
  • Dynamic data prefill using FDM/REST/custom OSGi services
  • Data validation - client-side, server-side, cross-field, and custom validation logic
  • Experience with AEM Forms on JEE/OSGi and document services (PDF generation, digital signatures) - if applicable
  • Working knowledge of workflows, launcher, and event handling in AEM
  • REST/SOAP API integration experience
  • Version control (Git) and build tools (Maven)
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology
  • Good understanding of AEM Sites architecture (helpful if role spans both Sites and Forms)

Good to Have

  • Experience with AEM as a Cloud Service
  • Knowledge of GraphQL, headless AEM implementations
  • Exposure to Adobe Sign or other e-signature integrations
  • AEM certifications (Adobe Certified Expert - AEM Forms/Sites)
