We have an Opening for Accountant with Shyam Infra Nirman for Kolkata location.

Accountant EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction)

Job Summary

The Accountant will be responsible for managing project accounting, financial reporting, cost monitoring, vendor payments, billing, taxation, and compliance activities related to EPC projects. The role requires close coordination with project managers, procurement teams, and site personnel to ensure accurate financial control and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Accounting & Cost Control

  • Maintain project-wise books of accounts and cost records.
  • Monitor project budgets, actual expenditures, and cost variances.
  • Track engineering, procurement, construction, subcontractor, and site-related costs.
  • Prepare project cost reports and profitability analysis.
  • Support project managers with financial data for decision-making.

2. Accounts Payable & Vendor Management

  • Process vendor and subcontractor invoices.
  • Verify supporting documents, purchase orders, work completion certificates, and contracts.
  • Ensure timely payment processing and reconciliation of supplier accounts.
  • Monitor retention amounts, performance guarantees, and advance payments.

3. Customer Billing & Accounts Receivable

  • Prepare customer invoices as per project milestones and contract terms.
  • Track collections and outstanding receivables.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Maintain records of retention receivables and contract claims.

4. General Accounting

  • Record journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations.
  • Manage fixed assets and depreciation accounting.
  • Ensure accurate month-end and year-end closing activities.

5. Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Generate project-wise profitability and cost reports.
  • Assist in budget preparation and forecasting.
  • Support management reporting and MIS preparation.

6. Taxation & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, VAT, withholding tax, and other applicable regulations.
  • Prepare tax returns and statutory filings.
  • Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

7. Treasury & Cash Flow Management

  • Assist in project cash flow planning and monitoring.
  • Prepare fund requirement statements.
  • Monitor bank transactions, guarantees, and letters of credit.
  • Support working capital management.

8. Audit Support

  • Provide documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Support project audits and statutory audits.
  • Maintain proper accounting records and documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
  • Professional qualification such as CA, CMA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent is preferred.
  • 38 years of accounting experience, preferably in EPC, construction, infrastructure, oil & gas, or industrial projects.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of project accounting and contract accounting.
  • Understanding of EPC project lifecycle and cost structures.
  • Knowledge of GST, TDS, and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation abilities.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
